Miraishin no Oka is an about 5,000 square meter white marble garden on Ikuchishima Island (生口島) on the Shimanami Kaido (しまなみ海道). Ikuchishima Island is also known as an island of art, and the entire garden of Miraishin no Oka is one magnificent work of art. Miraishin no Oka is a work of art that was created with consideration of the harmony with nature, such as the shape and color of the surrounding scenery, wind and rain, and light. In addition, visitors can not only walk around the grounds, but can also enjoy actually touching them with their hands. Recently, it has become very popular as a photo spot. Attractions
A pure white world surrounded by white marble
Speaking of Miraishin no Oka, it is a pure white world as far as the eye can see, surrounded by marble. At first, the light reflected off the white marble is so bright that it makes you dizzy. The total weight of the marble used is about 3,000 tons. If the weather is nice, you will definitely be able to take great pictures of the contrast between the white marble and the blue sky.
Komyou no Tou (光明の塔)
Komyo no Tou stands out prominently in the center of Miraishin no Oka. This is located on the highest point of Miraishin no Oka, so it is a must-see photo spot. If you pose for a photo in front of this tower, which looks like hands clasped together toward the heavens, you are sure to look good!
A lot of photo spots
There are a lot of photo spots other than Komyou no Tou introduced above. A monument shaped like a gate called “Flame from the Future (Mirai kara no hono, 未来からの炎)”. This is located near the entrance of the Miraishin no Oka, so let’s take pictures here first.
There are tables and chairs made of marble in a place called Niki no Niwa (二鬼の庭). There is a hole in the middle of the table, so it might be fun to stick your head out and take pictures.
If you use the light coming through the hole in the table, you may be able to take a slightly different and interesting photo.
“Yasuragi to Chikara no Koshikake (安らぎと力の腰掛け)” is a gathering point for energies from above and energies from below. Sit here and save your energy.
There is also a marble monument that looks like a face panel. If there is a place where you can show your face, you will want to show your face. Let’s take a picture here.
This monument looks like a staircase. At the top of the stairs, you can see a great view of the Seto Inland Sea.
Take a break at Caffe Cuore
Cafe Cuore is located on the site of Miraishin no Oka, and this Cafe is also made of marble. When you enter the store, you first order at the entrance. It is a semi-self-service style, and after ordering, you receive the items that come out and carry them to your seat by yourself. There are also marble sculptures in this cafe. You can sit wherever you like and look at the sculptures, the marble scenery of Miraishin no Oka, or the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. On the cafe menu, lemon squash and lemon gelato using local Setoda lemons are recommended.
